Important Safety Information
WARNING: SEDATION; DISSOCIATION; RESPIRATORY DEPRESSION; ABUSE AND MISUSE; and SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AND BEHAVIORS
- Sedation, dissociation and respiratory depression: Spravato can cause sleepiness, dissociative effects (feeling disconnected from yourself, your thoughts, feelings and surroundings) and slowed or shallow breathing. Patients are monitored by a healthcare provider for at least 2 hours after each dose.
- Abuse and misuse: Spravato contains esketamine, a controlled substance (CIII), and may be misused. Your provider will check for signs of abuse and misuse.
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviors: Antidepressants may increase suicidal thoughts and behaviors in people 24 years and younger. Spravato is not approved for children. Call your provider right away if depression worsens or you have new or worsening suicidal thoughts.
Spravato is available only through a restricted program, the Spravato REMS, and is given only in a certified healthcare setting. You use the nasal spray yourself under the supervision of a healthcare provider and do not take it home.
Spravato may also raise blood pressure and can affect attention, judgment and thinking. Do not drive or operate machinery until the next day after a restful sleep. Tell your provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding. Common side effects include dissociation, dizziness, nausea, sedation, vertigo, decreased sense of touch, anxiety, lethargy, increased blood pressure, vomiting and feeling drunk.
Individual results vary. This is not the complete safety information. See the full Prescribing Information, including the Boxed Warning, and Medication Guide. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.
